The main events of the IRONMAN Poland weekends in the 2024 season will be the IRONMAN 70.3 distance competitions, also known as "IRONMAN halves". Triathletes will have to cover 1.9 km of swimming, 90 km of cycling, and 21.1 km of running there. In each of the three locations - Warsaw, Gdynia, and Poznań - participants of these competitions will compete for passes to the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championships. However, there are many more items on the event program, also for those who are not yet ready to compete at such a demanding distance.
Individually and in relay at the Olympic distance
Starting this year, the Olympic distance competitions (5150 Triathlon Series), which consist of 1.5 km of swimming, 40 km of cycling, and 10 km of running, will be included in the event program in every city where IRONMAN competitions are held in Poland. What's more, it will be possible to compete at this distance not only individually but also in a 3-person relay, where each team member completes one of the three triathlon disciplines.
In Gdynia, even more relays and something for beginners
During the Enea IRONMAN 70.3 Gdynia weekend, for the first time, it will be possible to compete in a relay also at the main IRONMAN 70.3 distance. Organizers, with beginners in mind, have also introduced a new race to the event program - 4:18:4 Gdynia powered by sportano.pl. Participants will face 400m of swimming, 18 km of cycling, and 4 km of running. This is an exceptionally attractive formula for beginner triathletes and all those who feel least comfortable in the water.
Pho3nix IRONKIDS in the form of a run or aquathlon
As every year, there will also be something for the youngest athletes, namely the Pho3nix IRONKIDS competitions. In Warsaw and Poznań, they will take the form of short runs, while in Gdynia, they will be held in the form of an aquathlon (swimming + running). The distances will be varied and adapted to the age of the participants. Each child will receive a commemorative medal at the finish line.
Night Run, i.e., night runs in a unique setting!
In this year's IRONMAN Poland event program, Night Runs will once again be featured, i.e., 5-kilometer night runs. It is a unique opportunity to run through the center of Warsaw, Gdynia, and Poznań and feel like an IRONMAN event finisher - as the finish line of each run is in the same location as the IRONMAN event finish line. What's more, due to the night time, the finish line is illuminated by numerous colorful lights, which, combined with music and the cheers of spectators and the announcer, creates an unforgettable finish atmosphere. In 2024, the routes of these events will have PZLA certification (precisely measured distance), and each participant will receive an LED wristband in the start package, which will additionally illuminate the route. And of course, a medal at the finish line!
Swim Series Poland by AQUA SPEED in Warsaw and Poznań
During this year's IRONMAN Poland events in Warsaw and Poznań, long-distance swimmers specializing in open water swimming will also have their event. Swim Series Poland by AQUA SPEED offers two distances to choose from - 750m and 1500m. In Warsaw, the competition will take place at Zegrzyński Reservoir, and in Poznań - Lake Kierskie. In both cases, the competitions will be held on the eve of the main triathlon competition at the IRONMAN 70.3 distance.
Bike Expo in Poznań
The Bike Expo at the Poznań International Fair will undoubtedly be one of the major attractions of the IRONMAN 70.3 competitions in Poznań this year. The autumn edition of the largest bicycle industry fair in Poland will feature dozens of exhibitors, bike tests, as well as seminars and lectures. Trade fair events will also accompany the IRONMAN competitions in Warsaw (Multimedia Fountain Park) and Gdynia (Kościuszko Square).
